At DuroKleen we specialise in producing antimicrobial cleaning and disinfectant products , we don’t just want to sell you the best and most long-lasting industrial cleaning products on the market, we also want you to understand how our products work, and why they are better than the alternatives.
So, what actually is an antimicrobial disinfectant and how does it differ from other cleaning and sanitising agents out there, surely they’re all the same right? Wrong! Most traditional chemicals used for disinfectant purposes have three major drawbacks.
- They are only effective for a very short window of time, sometimes only a matter of minutes. So what are you going to do? Keep cleaning surfaces every few minutes to make sure they are safe. That’s either going to be cost prohibitive in a workplace or time prohibitive in the home, it’s just not practical.
- The chemicals themselves, bleach, chorine, formaldehyde, ammonia and alcohol can be toxic for people, pets and farm animals, as well as the environment. They can create breathing difficulties, burn the skin and damage clothing, surfaces and equipment. The cure they offer is often worse than the problem they were trying to solve. Why on earth would you use toxic products if you don’t have to?
They don’t actually get rid of unpleasant odours; they just cover them up and mask them. This is because they don’t kill and mute the return of bacteria for any reasonable length of time. The, at times often overwhelming, odours associated with mould, mildew, bacteria and algae are the result of their microbes breaking down and decomposing matter such as spoiled food or faeces, and chemical produced by the microbes themselves. It’s very simple, if you don’t kill the microbes you have no chance of killing the smell.
What is an antimicrobial disinfectant?
As you have probably guessed by now, the DuroKleen Antimicrobial disinfectant works in a different way. DuroKleen has developed a patented antimicrobial solution that has proven to be a huge leap forward in antimicrobial technology. It works by actually bonding with the molecules of the surface being treated. In doing so it creates an impenetrable layer of microscopic, positively charged chains of molecules coating the surface you want to protect. As undesirable molecules (bacteria, viruses) come into contact with the DuroKleen molecules, the positive charge and lipophilic tails of the DuroKleen molecules fatally weaken the outer cell walls of the negatively charged microbial cells.
Environmentally friendly antimicrobial cleaner
DuroKleen is safe to use because it’s water-based and doesn’t utilise any of the harsh chemicals previously mentioned.
Smell wise all your left with after treating an area with DuroKleen is the smell of fresh, healthy air. Not a harsh, cough inducing smell of bleach or ammonia which can irritate your respiratory system with young children and infants being particularly at risk. We find it’s often remarked that child care centres and Aged care facilities treated with DuroKleen have a noticeably different smell from those that have been attempted to be sanitised and cleaned with traditional cleaners. Visitors and residents have one of two options in those previous circumstances. Just get used to and ‘put up’ with unpleasant odours or mask them with perfumed but ineffective cleaners or worse still the heavy smell of bleach. Use DuroKleen and you simply breathe and smell fresh air.
The last big difference, and probably the most important in our modern world, is the longevity of DuroKleen’s antimicrobial formula. Because of the way it works, once applied DuroKleen can go on being effective for up to one hundred days. This can be especially advantageous when you’re dealing with hard to access areas such as air vents and the like that can’t be accessed easily on a regular basis. Not having to clean mould, mildew, and algae from hard to reach areas for potentially a hundred days, is heaven in any business owner or homemaker’s world.
