There are multiple challenges for private boat owners, boat hire and charter vessel businesses in keeping craft clean and free of mould, mildew, bacterial growth and odours.
Unfortunately, boats are often literally the perfect environment for the growth of mould, algae and the unpleasant odours they produce. On board vessels you often have small, dark, confined, humid spaces. The historical approach has been to clean almost continuously to keep these elements at bay. But this can be hard, especially for weekend enthusiasts who might not be able to visit their boats on a regular basis.
The situation you’re trying to avoid is turning up to your vessel on a beautiful sunny boating day, possibly with a group of invited friends, only to find that your craft has been invaded by black mould, mildew, algae and has a smell which is going to ruin everyone’s experience of the day! The issues mentioned so far will mainly surface in the interior of your craft or on deck, but equally a clean hull will slip through the water more efficiently and will present your craft to its best effect.
DuroKleen is your number one combatant for all of these marine problems. It’s versatile, which means you’re not trying to store multiple cleaning products on board to deal with these problems. With DuroKleen you can treat all manner of hard and soft surfaces: metal, clothing, footwear, curtains, carpets, rubber, canvas, filters, wood, vinyl, plastics, leather and fiberglass. In short, any material or surface you might find on a marine vessel.
When you apply DuroKleen it forms a powerful antimicrobial barrier that fatally corrupts the microbes of mould, mildew and bacteria. The outstanding element of DuroKleen, as regards the marine industry, is that once this biostatic barrier has been formed it has been shown to go on protecting your vessel for up to 100 days. That means less cleaning time, more leisure time and less unsightly surprises when you visit your vessel after a period of abstinence.
So DuroKleen has a two in one effect:
- POWERFUL, LONG-TERM PROTECTION AGAINST DISEASE-CAUSING BACTERIA, KILLING AND RETARDING MOULD AND ALGAE.
- PLUS IT SAVES YOU TIME, REPETITIVE EFFORT AND THE EXPENSE OF FREQUENTLY REPEATING CONVENTIONAL TREATMENTS.
The best way to apply DuroKleen to your craft is by spraying, misting, soaking or simply wiping on with a damp sponge or cloth. Detailed instructions are printed on the label.
When treating a surface with DuroKleen, begin by first cleaning (We highly recommend DuroPax, our commercial grade cleaning and disinfecting product for this task), then allowing the surface to dry. – Next apply Durokleen evenly over the surface to be treated. It’s a good idea to allow 15 seconds for the surface to dry and the biostatic barrier to form before disrupting it in any way.
Once applied DuroKleen goes to work:
- Killing mould, algae and odour.
- Using a safe, water-based formula – with no toxic fumes.
- Making it safe to use, and easy to apply.
- So it won’t stain, bleach or burn your precious surfaces.
- While it also deals a knockout blow to bacteria and viruses.
- Using no chlorine or dangerous chemicals.
- And protecting your soft on-board furnishings and fabrics.
Although DuroKleen is a non-toxic, safe product, it is advisable to exercise the same normal cautions you would in using any cleaning and disinfecting product. Do not allow DuroKleen to make contact with your eyes. Wash your hands and skin after exposure, and do not apply DuroKleen to foodstuffs. If poisoning occurs, follow the Safety Instructions printed on the label. If necessary, consult a qualified medical practitioner. And of course, always make sure your DuroKleen is safely and securely locked away if you have any young inquisitive crew members on board.
