The need for a hospital grade disinfectant that comes in a sprayable form is more necessary now than ever before.
With the advent of the COVID-19 virus in early 2020 it has become clear that a top-grade disinfectant, that can be used quickly and easily, while patients and staff still inhabit an area, is essential.
The disinfectant used must be powerful enough to be genuinely Hospital grade but also be gentle on people’s skin and not affect their respiratory systems.
That’s a stringent set of criteria to meet; but there is one range of cleaners and disinfectants that fit this bill. DuroKleen Hospital grade disinfectant is superior to our competitors’ offerings namely because it works in a completely new and different way.
Most disinfecting agents rely on harsh chemical bases to have any effectiveness; traditionally, bleach, ammonia, formaldehyde, acid, chlorine or alcohol. These less than ideal approaches have a variety of negative side effects. These products can easily burn skin, bleach and stain surfaces and clothing, cause eye irritations and their toxic fumes can cause coughing and respiratory conditions. It must also be noted that even with these heavy toxic chemicals, their effectiveness is still transient, short term and limited at best.
DuroKleen on the other hand destroys and retards the growth of viruses, infections, bacteria, mould, and algae in a completely different, and safer way. In short when DuroKleen is applied to a clean surface it forms what we’ve coined a “biostatic antimicrobial barrier”. What happens at the molecular level is that DuroKleen forms a bond with the molecular structure of treated surfaces. The bonding creates a dense field of microscopic, positively-charged chains of molecules that coat the treated surface. The positive charge and lipophilic tails of the molecular chains destroy offending microbes by way of a chemical and physical interaction that fatally weakens the outer layer of the net-negatively charged microbial cells. Rendering them unable to multiply and proliferate.
There are a number of benefits to this approach.
Firstly, if then left unaltered, the area treated with DuroKleen has then been shown to continue to provide a sanitary antimicrobial environment for up to 100 days. This is especially important in a hospital environment, where sanitation and hygiene are paramount. It also means that, hard to reach, tucked away areas and items, such as air-conditioning filters continue to be protected even if they cannot feasibly be cleaned as frequently as would be ideal.
Another benefit of the DuroKleen approach is that, because you are now deactivating and retarding the “source growth” of bacteria, mould and mildew, their spores (which give off the unpleasant odours as they break down physical matter) don’t exist anymore. So the unpleasant smells often associated with hospitals and especially aged care facilities are not just masked and covered up by heavy bleach smells, but actually eradicated—leaving only the pleasant smell of fresh air.
DuroKleen can be, sprayed from our handy 750ml bottle for smaller areas and tasks, or fogged, misted and electrostatically sprayed to cover larger areas—getting into every nook and cranny and providing you with full protection.
To achieve the maximum results with DuroKleen we would recommend first cleaning an area you wish to treat thoroughly with DuroPax, our 2 in 1 commercial grade cleaning and disinfecting solution. After being applied, just like it’s cousin DuroKleen, DuroPax still forms the antimicrobial biostatic protecting barrier for upwards of 48 hours. This has also been shown to have a number of positives for your facility, and cleaning team.
Firstly, because your team is only using one product to clean and disinfect in their regular cleaning schedule, cleaning time has been shown to be effectively halved. Thus your team can cover a greater area in their normal allotted cleaning hours. This has been shown to boost their moral because they, and the colleagues and patients around them, can see they are being more effective.
Once cleaned and disinfected with Duropax, your team should then periodically also treat all surfaces and areas with DuroKleen, to give you the full 100-day protection.
