This is actually a very specific area of the cleaning and disinfecting landscape, and there are very few products that have the variety of uses or ways of being sprayed over large and/or hard to reach areas as DuroKleen.
Let’s first look at the different ways that DuroKleen can be applied in an aerosol manner.
Over large areas the most effective way to apply DuroKleen’s Long-Term Hospital Grade Disinfectant is by fogging or electrostatically spraying the area. This will not only treat the surfaces it contacts but also the air borne microbes within the area. When electrostatically spraying or fogging ensure that all of the surfaces you are trying to treat have been coated in DuroKleen, taking care to avoid electrical surfaces. After fogging or electrostatically spraying allow at least 15 seconds for the area to dry, free from any heat or friction. So for instance, if treating a commercial kitchen, the procedure should be carried out after hours when the area is cool. If treating a high school hallway do it after all students and staff have left the building for the day. This reduces the risk of recontamination. Then allow a further 15 seconds for the DuroKleen Biostatic barrier to form to protect the surface from bacteria, algae and funguses for up to 100 days. Where you have sensitive circuits and electrical switches, ensure the power points are switched off, then to avoid over spraying the electrical equipment, spray DuroKleen onto a microfibre cloth then gently wipe down the surfaces and equipment.
If spraying smaller areas use our handy spray bottles, have a cleaning cloth pre-moistened with DuroKleen on hand and make sure the spray is then evenly distributed over the entire area you wish to treat. Once again allow 15 seconds for the area to air dry without being disturbed in any way. If you are treating a high traffic area, that is frequently touched, be sure to carry out the procedure in quieter traffic times so as to ensure DuroKleen has an additional 15 seconds after drying to form its antimicrobial barrier, crucial to long life disinfectant protection. Then reapply every 3 months or when odour, staining or discolouration returns due to bacteria, mould or mildew.
Of course it’s not just hard surfaces you can treat by fogging, electrostatically spraying or hand spraying. Clothing, sports uniforms, work uniforms, furniture, curtains etc can also be effectively treated in these ways. But before you do, for maximum protection, make sure all the items being treated are first washed thoroughly.
Of course, as is commonly and mistakenly thought, you don’t have to actually kill all the airborne microbes to get rid of unpleasant odours. Odours associated with mould, mildew, food spoilage and bacteria are really just the bi-products of these microbes doing what they naturally do. The smells, although unpleasant, are naturally released when matter is broken down or bacteria is allowed to proliferate. So, if you destroy the microbes, at the source, i.e. the surfaces they reside on, you also rid the treated area of unwanted odours. This is so much more beneficial than just masking the problem with the heavy and cough inducing smell of bleach or perfumed cleaners—which give the appearance of working but are not actually stopping the proliferation of microbes or protecting the area long term as DuroKleen does.
Please note as per our safety guidelines although no specific eye/face protection measures are noted when using DuroKleen. But safety goggles are advisable while your cleaning team is fogging or electrostatically spraying DuroKleen and/or handling or decanting large product volumes, for example 200L, 1000L.
DuroKleen is available in 50ml, 750ml, 5L, 20L, 200L and 1000L pack sizes. Our team of expert field officers can also conduct telephone consultations with your cleaning management team around the best fogging and electrostatic spraying devices to employ and the best way to use DuroKleen in its sanitiser aerosol disinfectant spray mode, for your particular industry and business. They can also consult and advise you on formulating the most effective Proactive Preventative Cleaning and Disinfecting Program for your company.
